Slynd

Slynd comes in a 28-day pack with:

• 24 active tablets (white) containing 4 mg drospirenone
• 4 inactive (placebo) tablets (green)

When used as part of HRT:

• Take 1 active tablet daily, continuously
• Omit the 4 placebo pills in each pack
• Start the next pack immediately with no break

Your clinician may also recommend combining Slynd with transdermal oestrogen, depending on your symptoms and preferences.

• Take at the same time every day
• With or without food
• If you miss a tablet and it’s been more than 12 hours, skip it — don’t double up

Common side effects may include:

• Spotting or irregular bleeding
• Breast tenderness or bloating
• Headaches
• Acne (often improves with time)
• Mood changes

These are usually mild and often settle within the first few months.

Rare but more serious effects are uncommon, but it’s important to know what to look out for. These include high potassium levels (more likely if you take certain medicines like ACE inhibitors or spironolactone) and a very small increase in breast cancer risk.

Get urgent medical help if you notice:

• Chest pain or shortness of breath – could mean a blood clot in the lungs or a heart problem
• Painful leg swelling – could be a blood clot in the leg
• Severe headaches or vision changes – could be a stroke or blood clot in the brain
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice) – may be a sign of liver or gallbladder problems
• Bleeding that starts unexpectedly after the first few months – needs checking to rule out pregnancy or other causes
