What is Estriol cream?

Estriol 0.1% or 1mg/g is a low-dose vaginal oestrogen cream, a body-identical form of oestrogen. It is used to treat vaginal and urinary symptoms caused by declining oestrogen levels during and after menopause.

Unlike systemic HRT, Estriol cream works by delivering oestrogen directly to the vaginal tissues with minimal absorption into the bloodstream. This makes it a trusted option for many women, including those who are not taking systemic HRT.

Why choose Estriol cream?

Estriol is a local HRT treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) — symptoms affecting the vaginal and urinary areas due to low oestrogen. It is a gentle form of oestrogen suitable for long-term use.

It may be a good choice if you:

  • Have vaginal dryness, itching, or soreness
  • Experience pain during sex or recurrent UTIs
  • Have urinary urgency or frequency
  • Are not on systemic HRT but still want targeted relief
  • Prefer a cream to vaginal tablets or rings
